Ephesians 1:18–21

Jan 23

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

Focused Thinking: (Eph 1:18–19)

What did Paul pray for the people at Ephesus?

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened,

What is the norm for the eyes of our heart apart from the Holy Spirit?

1 John 2:15–16
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the 15 love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

What is the difference between eyes that aren’t enlightened versus eyes that are enlightened?

18 …so that you will know WHAT is the hope of His calling, WHAT are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19and WHAT is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

How much better is that than 1 John 2:16?

Interactive Prayer:

Father, forgive me for doubting You in prayer. Forgive me for not persevering more in prayer. Forgive me for being impatient in prayer. I know it is important to work hard but unfortunately I’ve been guilty of working too hard according to my abilities and not hard enough to ask for Your abilities.

Father, I pray that Highpointers will know what the hope of His calling is. I pray that they will quit thinking about God’s will for their lives and they will start thinking about God’s will . I pray that their paradigm will change and they will adjust their lives to You instead of asking You to adjust to their lives. I pray that they will pray to be a blessing to You and others instead of praying for You to be a blessing to them . I pray that they will find their purpose in their calling, not in their personal success. I pray that You will change their definition of success and purpose.

Father, I pray that Highpointers will know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. I pray that they will not forget Your forgiveness and freedom . I pray that they will not forget their former life and former ways, but rather live in the riches of their sal vation and sanctification. I pray that they will walk by the Spirit and bear the fruits of the Spirit. I pray that they will respond to Your love with love. I pray that they will be people who are known by love. I pray that they will devote themsel ves to the Word, prayer and fellowship. I pray that they will know that the abundant life is a life of loving, serving and giving.

Father, I pray that Highpointers will know what the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe is. I pray that they will know the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. I pray that they will learn to hear and obey His voice. I pray that they will quit being afraid of the Spirit and understand that the Spirit of God is God’s greatest gift to us. I pray that they will quit praying for peaceful lives and start praying for powerful lives. I pray that they will overcome strongholds and live on mission through the Spirit of God. I pray that they will believe that holiness is possible. I pray that their identity will change and that they will see themselves first and foremost as servants of God.
