Prayer for Sunday service
From Saturday night…
Father, our people desperately need to obey You. Cause people to take steps of obedience. Protect our people from delaying their obedience. Give me the ability to teach with Your presence and power. Give me the ability to teach in the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. Speak through me with Your authority and conviction. Father, cause our people to repent of being selfish. Cause our people to repent of individualism. Cause our people to repent of neglecting the church and what it means to be a member of the church. Father, cause our people to see their need for friends and their need to be a friend. Father, do something through this week’s message to cause this church to “get it” in the world of connection. I pray for commitments to friendship. I pray for repentance of selfishness. Father, please show people how spiritual friendships are. Show people how important friendships are. Father, this can protect teenagers, college students, heck, everyone from the biggest mistakes of their life.
Father, we as a staff can’t make anything happen on Sundays unless Your Spirit dominates. Show up this Sunday. Show us Your glory for Your glory. Please give us a sensitivity to Your Spirit. Give us boldness and courage. Give Andy the ability to say what You would say the way You would say it. Father, I pray for major breakthroughs in our church. Father, move us from a crowd to a congregation. Move us from a crowd to community. Move us from a crowd to a church. I pray that we would be perfected in unity and that every unbeliever would know that the Father sent the Son and loved them even as He loved the Son. I pray for unbelievable numbers of salvations and baptisms tomorrow. Father, cause our people to take steps of obedience and faith to register for Connect Groups and Equip Classes. Father, please cause church to be more than a good service tomorrow; cause it to be a Spirit-filled response to Your Word.
Father, I’m wrestling with You and begging You to bless our people tomorrow. Father, they are hurting. Their sin is destroying them and their loved ones. Give us a spirit of repentance tomorrow. I pray that our people will quit flirting with sin. I pray that our people will quit wanting approval from ungodly people. Father, the most spiritual thing our people can do is change their friends. Father, I can’t change the sinfulness of this church. Do what we can’t do tomorrow. Come, Holy Spirit, come. Fall upon us. I feel hopeless unless You show up. The need is too great. The problem is too great to do this in our own strength. Increase my faith tomorrow by revealing Yourself to me. I need to see You. I need to be encouraged. I need my faith strengthened. I’m burdened and I need to see Your presence and power to overcome sin. Give me a visible sign of Your presence tomorrow. Give us the ability to see and feel the presence of Your Spirit tomorrow. I pray that we would see Your presence in people’s response. Father, there are thousands of reasons why we need to see and experience You tomorrow; but, if I may ask selfishly, I need to see and experience You. I need You to bless me tomorrow. I need You to encourage me tomorrow. I need You to grow my faith tomorrow.
