Matthew 12:15–21

Aug 04

15But Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. Many followed Him, and He healed them all, 16and warned them not to tell who He was. 17This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet:
18
“Behold, My Servant whom I have chosen;
My Beloved in whom My soul is well-pleased;
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
19
“He will not quarrel, nor cry out;
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
20
“A battered reed He will not break off,
And a smoldering wick He will not put out,
Until He leads justice to victory.
21
“And in His name the Gentiles will hope.”

Focused Thinking:

Wow, what a beautiful picture of God delighting in the Son.

Behold, My Servant whom I have chosen;
My Beloved in whom my soul is well-pleased;
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles.”

“He will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.”

He will take the gospel to the world.

This is the Great Commission.

He will not quarrel, nor cry out; nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.”

He doesn’t cry out until cries out in victory on the cross.

A battering reed He will break off, and a smoldering wick He will not put out, until he leads justice to victory.”

This is so beautiful.

This is so powerful.

He could not be broken until it was time for Him to be broken for us.

His light could not be put out. He took our darkness upon and destroyed the darkness three days later. The darkness cannot put out the light.

And in His name the Gentiles will hope.”

Unfortunately His own disowned Him.

Fortunately there is hope for the world.

Personal Application:

I pray that You will be well-pleased with Me.

Fill me up with Your Spirit.

Interactive Prayer:

Come Holy Spirit Come. Come and save us from our sin. Come and save us from ourselves. Come and restore our relationship with You. Come and give us the gifts of repentance and faith. Come and give us the ability to turn from our idols and to turn toward You.

Father, I pray that our people will catch the vision of Love Works. Father, wake people up. Father, do what we cannot do. Please make us Great at the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Father, please give us ability to say “yes” to You and “no” to the world. Father, create a movement in us. Create a revolution in us. Destroy apathy in us and give us a passion for You and making You known. Father, give a passion for loving God and loving people. Make us a church that make disciples.
