Matthew 9:18–26 prayer

Jun 23

18While He was saying these things to them, a synagogue official came and bowed down before Him, and said, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” 19Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.

20And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; 21for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.” 22But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well.

23When Jesus came into the official’s house, and saw the flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder, 24He said, “Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep.” And they began laughing at Him. 25But when the crowd had been sent out, He entered and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. 26This news spread throughout all that land.

Interactive Prayer:

I worked through this passage yesterday but didn’t get time to pray through it. I’m going to focus on prayer today.

Father, this world is so sick and consumed with sin. Please give our people the ability to see the seriousness of the sickness of sin and to turn to You for complete forgiveness and healing. Father, give us a hatred for sin and a love for You. Father, give us the ability to be consumed by You. Forgive us from flirting with the idols of this world. Forgive us from committing adultery with the idols of this world. Forgive us for being attracted by the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life. Father, give us the desperation and faith of the Synagogue official, of the woman suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years. Father, give me the faith to believe that all things are possible through You.

Father, speak Your vision into my heart for this Fall. Give me Your vision for this series. Give me Your vision for the next two years as we race toward our 10th Anniversary. Father, give me Your vision and give me the conviction to communicate it strongly. Speak to me through Your Word, through prayer, through other visionary leaders, through wise counsel and through circumstances. Speak to me about Your specific vision and goals for us. Speak to me about specific outreaches. Speak to me about specific ways to reach the unreached. Give us Your vision, Your wisdom and Your ability to reach people for Your glory.

Father, give me the words, the images and the symbols to communicate Your vision. Give us the ability to inspire our people to turn from their sinful ways to redefine their life by loving You, loving people and making disciples. Father, I need You to feel me with Your confidence and conviction. Fill me with faith. Give me the confidence that comes from receiving Your vision instead of me creating a vision. Give me the ability to focus on vision-casting, leadership and teaching. Give me the ability to teach our people to love well.

I pray that You will give us the resources to get the Word out about You through Highpoint Church. I pray that You will give our people a commitment to giving. I pray that You will move non-givers to give. I pray that You will cause Your Spirit to move into the hearts of our people to stir them to love and good deeds. Father, give us the servants we need to reach this city. Give us the servants we need to be the body of Christ to this city. Give our people a passion for Your vision in and through our church. I pray that will be truly be a people who “make God priority, make discipleship priority and make mission priority.” I pray that we will be a people who are surrendered to the Holy Spirit and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Father, do a new work in us. Give us a movement of the Spirit that creates a movement that is unstoppable. Help us as the church to quit stopping the church. The only thing that can stop the church from being unstoppable is the church. Father, make us Your bride that is beautiful, radiant and glorious. Make us a bride that is desirable and catches the eye and attention of every person in need of true love.

Father, give us a season of favor that pushes us beyond the hurdles and obstacles. Father, give us the ability to reach the unreached and to changed the unchanged. Father, show us special favor in our ability to accomplish Your mission for Your glory. Grow us spiritually, numerically, and financially. Give us the ability to grow us leaders and followers and to help this church secure a permanent home.
