Matthew 9:27–31

Jun 24

27As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29Then He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.” 30And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them: “See that no one knows about this!” 31But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

Focused Thinking:

How do disabilities affect someone’s belief?

Disabilities create Dreamers.

Disabilities create Desperation.

How do people with disabilities or handicaps affect the heart of God?

I think Jesus hated seeing the effects of sin upon people.

I think Jesus loved helping people who needed help.

All of us need help, but not all of us realize we need help.

Not all disabled people believe.

Not all able-bodied people doubt.

However, I do believe I need to believe like these blind men.

Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
“Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord.”
“It shall be done to you according to your faith.”

Personal Application:

If it shall be done to me according to my faith, what is the STRENGTH of my faith?

If it shall be done to me according to my faith, what is the SIZE of my faith?

Where does my doubt come from?

Doubt comes from looking at my abilities instead of God’s abilities.

Where does my faith come from?

Faith comes from looking at God’s abilities instead of my abilities.

Where do I doubt God?

I know God heals, but I doubt His ability to heal through me.

I know God can bring revival, but I doubt His ability to bring revival through me.

I know I shouldn’t doubt in those ways, but that’s where I’m at right now.

Focused Thinking:

30And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them: “See that no one knows about this!” 31But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

The news was too great to keep quiet.

The experience was too great to keep quiet.

The result was too great to keep quiet.

They couldn’t keep others quiet either.

If your friend was healed of blindness, would you keep quiet?

Impossible!

That’s why the news spread throughout all that land.

Personal Application:

The church today must have results for the news to spread.

What does it take for the church to have results?

God’s people must love God.

God’s people must love people.

God’s people must make disciples.

Interactive Prayer:

Father, increase my faith in You. Father, in the appropriate ways, increase my faith in me. Help me to believe that You can work through me. Help me to believe that You can do exceedingly, abundantly, beyond all that I can ask or think according to Your mighty power in and through me. Father, give me the confidence to be the man of God, the husband, the father and the pastor You’ve called me to be. Father, forgive me for doubting You and for doubting me. Father, You can use me just like You can use anyone else. Father, give me victory in this area. Help me to have significant victory in this area quickly and for Your glory.
